Minus Materials grows carbon-negative, biorenewable limestone – the main feedstock for portland cement manufacturing – using calcifying microalgae called coccolithophores. Our solution yields a 60% reduction in CO2 emissions without changing anything else in the process, and it can be stacked with green clinkering and carbon capture utilization and storage technologies to produce carbon-negative cement.
