Waveye is an early-stage technology startup focused on imaging radars for autonomous platforms. Our technology combines cutting-edge signal processing algorithms and AI for high-resolution, cost-efficient radar imaging. Our key innovation is a novel operating principle for imaging radars with a large MIMO array, as well as signal processing algorithms for robust and high-resolution radar measurement. Additionally, we use deeply-integrated radar AI to further boost the resolution capabilities in all radar measurement dimensions. Our novel Lightweight Imaging Radar (LIR) technology achieves very high-resolution radar imaging and cuts the cost and energy consumption by half.
In its nine months of existence, we obtained unique radar imaging technology, implemented it on a proof-of-concept radar prototype, integrated into a test vehicle along with reference sensors, validated with road measurements, and filed for patents in the US and the world. Our sample A prototype has a sub 1° base resolution both in azimuth and elevation dimensions, along with a robust dynamic range. We have already designed and manufactured our Sample A prototype with the novel LIR technology. We intend to deliver our prototype to our first customers for joint proof-of-concept and benchmarking activities by the end of the year.
Our focus is on 4D imaging radars for fully automated driving and self-driving cars. Additionally, we target applications for radar imaging in agriculture, robotics, and heavy industry machinery. In the long term, our technology allows imaging radars for battery-driven applications such as mobile robotics platforms or drones, opening up new market possibilities.
Waveye is based in Palo Alto, California and Stuttgart, Germany. The company was started in Nov. 2022 by a team of experienced executives and industry experts. Waveye won the “Best Startup Pitch” Award on IEEE ICASSP23, which is the flagship conference in signal processing.
